Just a thought

Seriously though? The media has taken over our minds and portrayed that being anorexic is hot. I don't see the beauty in any of those bodies in the first row. To me it just looks like they are unhappy and starving (literally) for attention. I just want to give them a hug and cook them dinner. Here's to hoping that the future holds fit and healthy models to strut down the runways.

Peace & Love,

  1. I understand the sentiment, given that each is an "ideal" of some sort. But there is the risk of backlash pushing the pendulum in the other direction. This post sort of sums that up so I don't have to write out the reasons why (hello, lazy):

A culture that dictactes what women's body image should be is the major problem. There's room for everyone, despite ads not wanting us to think so.

  2. Thanks for your comment Jesse! I read the article and found it to be very insightful. My only beef with it is that, these woman who are shown in this particular photo are ones who were subjects of the media. Heidi is fully disfigured now because of all of her plastic surgery. She confessed that this was all due to her environment and now admits to wishing that she never had any surgery. Most of the woman pictured were always skinny but never unhealthy skinny. If you look at Nicole Richie now, she has the body of a goddess. But, back then she was destroying her body with drugs and not eating healthy or at all for that matter. Kiera had to loose 20lbs for a role when she was only weighing in at 112lbs to start with. Kirstein, to be honest, I dont know that much about her and frankly, I don't know why she is incorporated in this photo. To me she does not look unhealthy.

I guess in my post I did not fully disclose what I was trying to get at. (I also had a few drinks in me.. oopsie ;)

All in all, what I am trying to say is, A healthy body is a beautiful body. No matter shape, size, color, gender. A body is a body, but what is on the inside of that body.. our souls, now that is what should we all should really be focusing on.
