Back to work

I know I have been slacking lately and you all must miss me so much. Well, maybe that is just what I want to think in my head. I feel like I owe my readers a good explanation to why I have been M.I.A lately. Well, for starters I got a new job. I love it so much that I dedicate most of my time and energy into it that when I get home I am exhausted and don't even want to look at a computer screen. And, if I do, it's mostly to keep up with whats going on in this crazy world we live in.
What does my new job entail you ask? A LOT of work. I am a buyer at one of the best consignment shops in brooklyn. Eva Gentry Consignment. I get to work with all high end designer pieces, with collection pieces from the 70's to the early 2000's to current S/S12. It's pretty unreal to actually be able to touch these items and feel the craftsmanship. I am pretty darn lucky. For instance, over the weekend I had the pleasure consigning S/S12 Narcisco Rodriegez, Balenciaga, Proenza Schouler, Marni, Rick Owens and Ann Demeulemeester. Like, seriously? How people part with this collector items I have no idea. But, I am not one to complain once they are in my presence :) I just thank them. Now I would like to thank you for your continued support and I promise to get back on my A' game. So keep on checking in for more posts from yours truly.

The Sewing Machine

I was blessed with this gorgeous antique sewing machine from our landlords Bell and Walter. They are selling her families home, which at one time held 12 children and 2 parents. The home was built in the 1920's and still carried pieces of furniture from that time. As they were cleaning out, her children and grandchildren were able to achieve whatever they most cherished. Since there was an abundance amount of furniture and art there was still some left for me to shift through. As we were walking through this architecturally beautiful home, with stories from every piece being told, there she was, just sitting there with the light ever so dimly shining down on her. It was like a light from heaven was peaking through the storms cloud. A stunning 1930's singer. Bell then told me how her sister loved to sew, she was a "sewing machine". She made all of her children's, nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildrens clothes. All while still having time to create all the tapestry in the home. I was like a child who just came down the stairs on Christmas morning. My eyes filled with hearts of excitement. Bell said, I know how creative you are and know how much you like clothes, so.. it's all yours. My eyes then filled up with tears and I accepted. I can only hope one day I will be able to create something as beautiful as her sister had.

Shoe Heaven

These are nothing but pure perfection. Pieces of art. I probably can't walk 5 feet in them (well, I know I can't, I tried to in the McQueens and I thought my ankle was going to snap with each step I took.) but I would love nothing more than to display these as pieces of art in my apt. Ya know, like a centerpiece or something... I just need them in my presence, the end.

By / Natalie Frigo

Recently I have had the privelage of meeting the wonderful Natalie Frigo, a NYC based jewlery designer. One of my favorite things about her jewlery is the aesthic in creating each piece. "Frigo approaches all of her pieces as little sculptures, carving each design by hand in wax. Using the lost wax method, her work is then cast in 100 percent recycled metals and married with personally-selected, conflict-free gemstones." You can't beat that now can you! Her designs are cutting edge, classic, and glamourous all wrapped up in one.
Natalie's jewlery was just featured with H.Fredriksson's F/W12 runway at the Green Shows in Bryant Park. Also, I just caught a glimpse of one of my favorite pieces in NYLON Magazine's March 2012 issue. From her amazing designs to her enchanting personality, I cannot imajine anything but extreme amounts of success for Natalie. Team Frigo!!

Here are some of my favorite designs by the ever-so-fabulous Natalie Frigo..

HFredriksson for Spring.

We love this sweet look to transition from winter into spring. Its shabby chic with a punch of color. I realized it's alot of color yes, but, as long as the tones are in the same family they compliment each other extremely well.  Our newest arrival from H Fredriksson is where it all began. I love this Box Dress because its versatile and comfortable.  It's still quite cold but not unbearable, to add some warmth opt for  H Fredriksson's Dolman Sweater and Maggie's textured tights.

Now the accessories are what completes this look. This Matt & Nat bag is perfect for a day-to-night look, a bold bag is always key. Coclico's Argila booties, come on.. do I need to say more? Thinking about a daytime stroll? Don't leave the house without these... Waiting for the Sun shades made from 100% teawood.  When choosing jewelry, don't go overboard, less is more. Try these simple drop earrings by Norwegian Wood and this beautiful ring from our lovely neighbors at Wendy Mink!  You can't sport that beauty with out a manicure, priti's non-toxic nail polish will do just the trick. Light, airy and most of all fun, just like the ensemble!

Crop by David Peck

New arrivals in from Crop by David Peck!! We are in love with the splash of color these Taylor Dresses are bringing to the store. It reminds us that spring is indeed on the horizon. For now we will be pairing these gorgeous 100% silk crepe dresses with a cardi, tights and tall boots. Looking to show off some curves? Pair the Taylor Dress with a brave belt. We especially love the way the Lessie Belt adds texture to the ensemble.

BTW, Check out this amazing video by David Peck on his SS12 collection. It really brings new meaning to the word "inspiration".

Photo of the day

A cold winters morning.

"Look around you, remember that you started with nothing, and know that everything you see, you created. We can all lose our feelings of self-worth, especially when something goes wrong in our world. The truth is that if you have done it before, you can do it again-no matter what."

Just a thought

Seriously though? The media has taken over our minds and portrayed that being anorexic is hot. I don't see the beauty in any of those bodies in the first row. To me it just looks like they are unhappy and starving (literally) for attention. I just want to give them a hug and cook them dinner. Here's to hoping that the future holds fit and healthy models to strut down the runways.

Coachella 2012

Coachella finally posted their line up for this year... and trust... it was worth the wait. I NEED to go, don't know how it will be possible, but it MUST happen. Are you with me people!?

Besides the obv good tunes, the fashion will be out of control (as always). Can't wait to see what everyone has up their sleeves. And, who will/won't turn it out this year. Here are some of my favorite's from last year. From maxi dress to studded boot to full on flower child, you all will always hold a special place in my heart. ::sighhh::

If you would like to buy me a ticket, by all means.. please do :)
