Top 10 before 2010!

I cant believe this year has already come to an end. 09' held so many memorable pieces of history for us all, some good and unfortunately some bad. This years fashion has been on it's A game and I am hoping it continue for years to come. I was exposed to so many new designers and I am so glad. They totally changed my views on alot different pieces and how a garments fit should actually fit. Hopefully the year to come will bring you all nothing but happiness and more memorable moments to look back on. So without further adu here some things I learned and some top 10 memories of 09' :

10. Learning to let go of people who are not worth holding onto. Jimmy's new years resolution last year was to not let people walk all over him. I kinda walked right into that one (no pun intended), I was then able to notice if people were taking advantage of me or were just all around feeding me their negative energy. Everyone has their own issues and deals with them differently but it is easier to deal with your own when you are surrounded by pure and positive energy.

9. Red Lipstick - damn you just make a girl feel like a 1950's movie star! Loves you!

8. Our 1 year anniversary! It feels like just yesterday Jimmy proposed to me. I will never forget that exact moment and the joy it brought to both of our lives! ily <3>

7. Kaight! Since I have been working at this wonderfully green store I have learned so much. I am so blessed to have such an amazing job where I work with fashion and everything green. I have been exposed to new designers, fabrics, textiles, information and most importantly the amazing quality of organic products. It truly is amazing. I feel like I am putting in some work to help our environment by working here. So thank you to Kate for having and AWESOME business and showing me the ropes!

Onto the Designers

6. LuLu Frost.. I luluLUV you! I just purchased this fringe necklace and I am in love. Mine is a different version but same concept .. just longer. I get so many compliments daily I am surprised my necklace didn't explode yet! She is a NYC based designer who creates all one of a kind pieces made from antiques and small pieces of history.. hence the plaza number necklaces.

5. Erin Templeton - Let me just say Erin WOWelton! I cant even believe how much I am dieing over these bags. I am a complete handbag whore and i like pretty much anything unique but I would sooo sell my whole handbag collection just to have a few more of her pieces. Erin is based in Toronto and all of her bags are made from recycled leather jackets.. how cool is that? Of course they are all one of a kinders.

4. Swedish Hasbeens. It's that grungy meets sophisticated hardcore look. Which is what I like to see! I wear my lace up probably at least 4 days a week.. if not more.. Thank you for making such amazing heels I can actually walk in.

3. Dream and Awake. I must be dreaming when I look at your pieces because I am in complete awe. Once again, all one of a kind pieces. All made from recycled vintage fabrics. I have said this before and I will say it every time I talk about her dresses.. "I feel like I should be in the middle of Central Park twirling around and the birds and cute lil' animals will come dance around me." That's how magical these dresses are.

2. This year was when I really started to actually do and complete all my creative thoughts. Jewelry making aka Brooklynista Designs and crocheting. Both bring relaxation and ease to my day. The sense of accomplishing something that I love is even better. A BIG thank you to everyone and anyone who reads my blog.. I will continue making some magic and hope you all will enjoy!

1. Suri.. Got Damn, u light up my life.

Happy and Safe New Year to all!!
Enjoy your evening and New Year!!

Livin' on a "Prairie"

As you all know Prairie Underground is quite amazing. The first time I slipped into their tuxedo leggings I knew it was fate. Felt so soft, movable, right height, pretty much perfection. I had to get a 2nd pair. We were all sold out of the tuxedo style so I then bought the black on black with the pockets. I DIE! Now.. I must say I am becoming obsessed with the long hoodies. Beautifully designed and cut. The colors are also so specific it is easy to spot a Prairie piece through out a full rack. It has the musty ruggedness to it (in a good way) . That.. I am a hard core biotch color.
The collection is made from organic cottons colored with natural dyes. Prairie Underground was one of the 7 finalists picked last year for the Ecco Domani Sustainable Award! I am really hoping we will be getting the Triple Layer Hoodie in as well. Too cute! How awes. would a dress look under that? Man oh Man... I love. Till we meet my love, till we meet.
THANK YOU DAVORA AND CAMILLA FOR CREATING THIS BEAUTIFUL STORY!

Brittany Murphy. I can't believe it is actually true. I didn't want to believe it when I first heard the news. You were a truly a beautiful person. You were real and pure. Always put a smile on my face. I would watch your films over and over again because the serenity in your voice always seemed to soothe me.. The heavens came to early for you. There was more Brittany to be shared with the world. Thank you for the inspiration you have given me, to always follow and conquer your dreams, thank you. Until next time, Rest in Peace.

"To Michele,

I didn't want you to think I am racist against Gingers,

You're so PRITI !!

Yesterday I was back at Kaight after my glorified weekend. I must say I was ecstatic to be back in the city.. I couldn't never be a country bumpkin.. lord no. Anywho, we are starting a lil' beauty area where you can pretty much come to the store as a one stop shop. Yesterday I received a shipment from Priti! I was sooo excited because this was the first order I took on. For you who don't know Priti is an all organic, non toxic nail polish line. "Our complete non-toxic nail polish line has been designed and specifically named after beautiful flowers, and plants that they resemble. Priti Polishes have been formulated without Toluene, DBP and Formaldehyde, all known carcinogens and does not contain any petroleum ingredients. They are fast drying, chip resistant, and super glossy." We have a bunch of winter inspired colors, french manicure kit, and nail polish remover. GrEAT stocking stuffers and/or presents for those of us who are on the $25 and under budget this year.. like myself .. lol!

Cizzzyyyy!

Brown Bags and Swedish Hasbeens

This weekend The Brown Baggers and some of the girlfriends (missed my other ladies, sad face)took a road trip to Rochester. The Boys had a gig and what a gig they had. It was amazing! Their stickers were pasted all throughout the venue and the town (and what a cute lil town too, might I add). We had 3 packed cars with talented bursting out the windows. The show consisted of P.So, Homeboy Sandman, Brokn.Englsh and of course The Brown Bag Allstars. They even named the drink specials after them a.k.a. The Brown Bag Special which was a red stripe in a mini brown paper bag with their sticker on it. So cute! We stayed in a 4star hotel and by all means it was 4stars fo sho'! All in all the weekend was amazing, everyone kirred (killed) it, and I rocked my Swedish Hasbeen Lace Up Boots so I kirred it too! I was the epitome of badass! I have plenty of pics but will post them later on.. sorry folks! Here are 2 to hold you over.

Only 10 more days till Christmas!!! ahhh!! I haven't even started shopping and I didn't even make the cards yet.. oopsie.. Gotta get on this grind.. DO WORK!

B.L. & L.C. & W.N.

Just recently I had a long chat with Blake Lively about the Hortensia Blue hand knit hat. She was in love with pretty much every piece in the store and was so in love with the concept of the store as well. "More people should be this aware of the environment we live in" she stated. I could only agree with her. She was a very nice genuine person. Hopefully she will come back soon! I know you are all dieing to know which pieces she bought! She of course bought the Hortensia hand knit blue hat and one of the Laura Graham locket necklaces for her friend for her birthday. What a good friend!

Then as I was watching "E" News I saw an interview with Lauren Conrad showing off her line in Kohl's. (of course, she didn't give her props where need be.. ahem.. Ra'Mon..) I will let that one slide because she was wearing one of our tunics! She was wearing the beautiful FIN Oslo hand knit tunic made from 100% organic cotton.

I was informed the other day the one and only editor at Vogue, William Norwich came in! Of course I wasn't at the store to officially meet him, just my luck. He bought the Loomstate dark denim prophecy jeans. This was his second time in the store, so he must have been intrigued to come back and check out our holiday pieces. Yay for us!

TaTa for now!

Sonya Tayeh.

I am a HUGE fan of So You Think You Can Dance. It might just be one of my Top 5'ers. After watching it throughout the past couple of seasons I began to fall in love with the choreographer Sonja Tayeh. Her range in modern funk and developed contact are the innovative choreographic styles in the dance world. Her pieces are always filled with drama, intensity, and uniqueness (if that's even a word). They are either heart wrenching or heart filling either or you will feel the power of both. The judges have nothing but high compliments for each of her pieces as well. If only I can dance that well, to just be able to move like that is a true gift. Ahh.. one can dream. All of her pieces are truly memorable, "The Garden" which was danced by Courtney and Mark blew my socks right off. That is when I knew we were destined to be together! Simply AMAZING! Also, her musical ear is genius! My favorite piece for this season was performed by Elenore and Jakob "Tore my heart".(please view it below..aduuhh) Thank you Sonya for exposing others to the beautiful form of contemporary dancing and enlightening us with your graces!
btw,
TEAM RUSSELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
