Matt&NatPreview.

When fall arrives it is a fashionista's dream come true. Brand new frocks and trends for the year to come. Fortunately I am surrounded by this every single day. I have recently posted the newest designers and their collections that have arrived here at Kaight. What I haven't told you guys yet is that we are going to be having another "shop within a shop" or shall we call it a "pop-up" shop. This time instead of shoes and clothing we will be featuring bags (my ultimate addiction). I was so excited when I heard the news it was a struggle for me to kept it a secret. Oops ;) I was able to preview the collection and I must say I would use every single bag I have seen. The brand we are featuring is the one and only Montreal based Matt & Nat. All off Matt & Nat's products are 100% vegan. They are made out of synthetic leathers and the lining of the bag is made out of recycled bottles. On the lining it actually tells you how many bottles were used in order to create the lining.. how cool is that? So without further adu here are some of the bags we just got in.

Stay Tuned... More to come shortly!

BBASWivesClub.

Just the other day I was in serious need of a girls night. Being surrounded by boys is every girls dream yes.. but, when you already found your dream boat it gets kinda.. well.. played out. So I met up with my 2 girlfriends Meggie and Mika and we had a girl pow wow. We decided to head into Park Slope because that's where all the good restaurants are of course and we LOVE food. We enjoyed a lovely meal, shared some laughs, bitched about our dream boats and of course what girls night isn't complete without a gossip session. We had so much fun we decided to have date night weekly. While I was chatting and stuffing my face I realized that girlfriends are a precious gem in a girls life. Since Meg and Mika are both dating a member of the Brown Bag Allstars they understand the feelings that I feel and are going through same obstacles. The understand the hardship, commitment, trust, patience, and struggle that I feel. Its reassuring to know that your not alone. To know that someone else feels the same and can understand you. It's easier to vent when you know you are not going to be judged. It's like going to therapy... and we decided we need to go to therapy every week from here on out haha. In other words a support group, a support group known as the Brown Bag Wives club. We have some other members that soon need to be introduced to the club and once they are.. the club is in full effect! My meaning for this post is one simple thing, hold on to your girlfriends because no one can understand you the way they can. GIRL POWER!

ArtsieWhit.

This week we just got in a shipment from Whit! One of our newest designers to be carried here at Kaight. The first thing that I thought of when I previewed the line was pure genius. Combining art with fashion is one of my one main true loves. I viewed the lookbook and just kept on thinking to myself "Hey, this is really f'in cool!" A very cool website and very cool company and a very cool style. Whitney Pozgay mixes the preppy girl, with the trendy girl, with the classic girl, with the hipster girl. Four of which style I appreciate.
Her first lookbook, for fall '10, is inspired by the artist Henry Darger's sweet and sinister drawings of young girls, as well as some influences from the French trifecta of Jane Birkin, François Hardy, and Nouvelle Vague. You should check out their website because it is artistically intriguing. Also on the website their is a page that is dedicated to the beautiful art that she was inspired by which can latter on inspire another.. I know it truly inspired me.

In Lucky Magazine's September issue. Big deal.

HappyAnniversary.

Today I am here to celebrate a wonderful day (even though it was Aug. 20th not the 22nd, I was close you gotta give me some credit ;) On August 20th it was the 4 year anniversary of KAIGHT! Can you believe that.. 4 years! It is amazing especially in this economy. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful customers who have now become our friends through out the years. We thank you for telling a family member or a friend who has then spread the word to their family and friends and so forth and so on. It is all because of your help and support that we are able to celebrate being in business for 4 years and most of all open up shop in Brooklyn as well!! I will keep you all posted on that as soon as I know more.. So exciting! So with all that being said, we would like to give a big thank you to everyone by giving 20% off your entire purchase using coupon code "happy anniversary" at kaightshop.com.

Luckily for you we are getting in our fall shipments. We already received shipments from Prairie Underground, Eairth, Julie Park, Feral Childe, and some of the Coclico shipment has arrived. Each and every piece is simply divine. The textures, fabrics and quality of the garments are unbelievable. The designers definitely stepped up their game this season and I am highly enjoying it! What I mostly appreciate with the designs this season are the cuts. Most of them are all classic cuts that can be layered or worn alone. My main reason for loving this is that it is a versatile piece and it can be worn for years. Unlike most trendy pieces, you can only get a few wears out of and then it is time to let in hang in the closet. My advice for you shoppers out there is get a few classic pieces and 1 trendy piece to jazz up the classic. And don't go over board on a trend. Less is more.
Happy Shopping!

And again a big Happy Anniversary to Kaight!

DancesWithWolves.

With everything that is going on in the world today, we like to say that every little bit counts. Right? Well with you support and help we can raise money for the gorgeous and unfortunately the most endangered species in North America, the Mexican Grey Wolf. To date, there are only 42 left in the wild. German-born Elke Duerr is a wolf advocate, educator, and film maker currently raising funds for her non-profit, Wild Wolf Film, a 501C charity. She is documenting the epic struggle of this beloved creature. She goes on wolf watches in their native land in the south west corridor of Arizona and New Mexico where she also gives lectures, works as a mediator between ranchers, Native Americans and wold advocates, and of course is recording all of her experiences--all on a school teacher's salary.

With the purchase of a T-Shirt you are supporting the film and the beautiful wolves. Designer Mary Meyer has graciously designed a captivating image for the t-shirts. 100% of the 200 limited edition shirts' profits will go to Elke to make her film. The project was funded by animal rights advocate Dawn Ladd. The shirts come with a hand numbered postcard complete with an image of a paw print that Elke took on one of her watches.

Please support and preserve our Wildlife....

Study.

Check out a little Q&A with the fabulous Tara St. James. She is the designer and creator of the line "STUDY". It is one of my favorite lines that we carry in the store. I have a bunch of pieces from her and one of my favorites is a cropped 3/4 length sleeve stripes top. The details in it are simple and elegant the fabric is an organic cotton with a lace uprise. This 2nd picture you can see the fit and the first you can see the detail. And, you can also see all the fun that was had and to be had in this perfect top! Love Love!

I actually wore it last night and was thinking to myself "God, I love this freakin' top"!

DanielFromLA.

It was an ordinary day at work on a Thursday. Ready to start my weekend and just enjoy living another beautiful day in the city. One of our great dear friends came in to hang, chat, chill you know the usual. His name is Daniel and he is a wonderfully sweet, charming, and handsome young man. In other words a Stud. We enjoy his company thoroughly. So he came in all excited and was like go to my new website!! Of course I did www.danielfromla.tumblr.com <-- hint hint, and I was blown away. He has an amazing eye. The moments that he captures is something that I would like to be in. Ya know what I mean like.. I want to be in that moment, I want to live what he is living. All his photos are so peaceful with a splash of charisma. Well I guess just like him ;) Anyway enough of me rambling about the photo's why don't you have a look for yourself...

Oh and most importantly all of these pieces of art are all taken on his blackberry, not a $5,000 camera with the $10,000 lens and flash of a movie star. Yes, an everyday blackberry. I said to him that there is no way in hell that he was able to get the quality and color and clearness that he got with a freaking' blackberry, I seriously did NOT believe him. Then he showed me his phone and said " I might have taken the same shot 50 times to get the perfect one and most of all It's not the camera honey, it's the photographer." Daniel you are amazing and keep on snappin'! Xoxox

SYTYCD?

As you all know I am a huge fan of So You Think You Can Dance. This season was amazing of course. I love to see new faces, new choreographers and dancers, but most of all new art. For me this season didnt have any "KEY" performances. My definition behind KEY is the type of performance that is so touching you cried and thought about it for days and had it on replay for a week. Most of the time my KEY performances are contemporary. But this year it was a completely different relm. It was The BUCK relm for me. Nappy Taps have defienetly stepped up their game and choreographed some killer routines. One of my favorites is this one with Alex Wong and my homeboy Twitch. The engery and discipline is what carried them through to the end. My 2nd favorite routine by the dynamite duo would have to be Scars danced by Robert with Allstar Domink. Get energy the hit each step so hard I thought the stage was gonna break. I loved the sick twisted-ness of this performace. Sheer Genius.

DreamNoMore.

Yesss! My loves have arrived. The fabulous designer at Dream and Awake; Amanda Ericsson has fulfilled my every desire. From design, to fit, to print, to style. I love the way that she took the same print of 2 different colors and re-worked it to the bone to create to completely different pieces. With this shipment we really feel that they have "up'd" their quality. The last shipment or 2 the dresses were cute but they werent OMG, I need to have that right now! So thank you Dream and Awake for challanging yourselves and creating pieces with so many unique qualities.

Michele (they love me so much they named a dress after me ;)

Anchor I This needs to be in my closet asap. thank you.
