EairthLove.

For the past couple of weeks it has been nothing but shipment after shipment. Of course, everything is amazing but one of them I particularly have a special place in my heart for. Throughout the fall, winter, and even up to date I have been wearing my Park Vogel boxy tee non-stop. I have it in 2 different colors and alternate them weekly. It has that perfect balance of comfy (like your wearing your pj's) yet flirty/sexy (by the draping off the shoulder). These are long sleeve so I am not so sure how much wear I can get out of them during the summer. Luckily for me Eairth has a similar piece in comfort level but extremely different shape. Just the other day we received the shipment of the "scarf tee" and the regular tee version. What I personally love about these tee's is the story behind them. This is what reads on all of her tags:

"Eairth pieces are handmade with an artisanal touch. Individually dyed with pigments from the jungle of the Philippines. No 2 or equal! The organic materials are harvested by indigenous tribes and local communities. Ingredients like coconut husk, leaves, indigo and various fallen barks. Collaborating with artisans, the result stems from careful research, using amalgamated processes that have been handed down through generations. Color and shade vary from piece to piece as the dye process is 100% chemical free. Color ma y fade after wash. Some colors more than others depending on the pigment source. Character is of super live color, constantly changing with earth's elements light, water and air."

The designer is Melissa Dizon and her beauty is portrayed in all of her pieces. Her design ascetics are to create pieces that are timeless, masculine and effortless. Which is exactly what she produced! Love it Melissa!

Why buy Organic Clothing.. Here's why.

It takes a third of a pound of pesticides to produce enough conventional cotton for one t-shirt and two-thirds of a pound of pesticides for one pair of jeans! By buying an organic outfit, that’s one pound of pesticides kept out of our waterways and soil – and off our bodies!

Alkemie.

It has been some time now that I have been wanting some bad-a double s jewelery. Of course, it would have to be something eco without the crunchy granola bar look. Something a rockstar would wear yet with a touch of elegance. When we came across Alkemie sometime back I was blown away. Alkemie's husband-and-wife design team Ashley Lowengrub and Dara Gerson's striking, one-of-a-kind designs are equal parts art and accessory. All of their designs are made of 100% reclaimed metals. All which are manufactured by hand in Los Angeles, California.

Both Ashley and Dara worked in the jewelery industry previously and were extremely concerned with the way the products were effecting the environment. They then decided to start a business on their own that promotes fair trade, local living wage and eco-sustainable business practices to combat the existing harmful effects and conditions of the metal and gemstone industry. The social issues include children working in dangerous conditions to mine and mount stones. And the environmental issues are toxic chemicals from mines seeping into the surrounding land and severely damaging precious watersheds. By using these reclaimed metals and avoiding these practices which are harming us, I would say it is truly success within itself.

All of the pieces are inspired by wildlife, nature, and the beauty that is surrounding us each day. Each piece has hard work, dedication and realness all factored into one. The details are simply amazing, through the textures, precise cut, and durability. You can tell that these pieces were meant to inspire, meant to tell a story, and meant to put a smile on ones face. These are some of the many reasons why we are proud to sell Alkemie at Kaight! Hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

SandalWandle.

One thing I love about this weather is that I finally get to start wearing sandals again! Don't get me wrong I love me some rockin' boots but I need my Pebbles Flinstone feet to be seen! They need to be at a nail salon soaking in soapy water, being massaged and little toenails to be painted the most vibrant of vibrant colors. Then my dear Pebbles, it's your time to shine baby!

These are my top 5 sandals for the spring. All are some sort of eco so it's even more of a reason why these are my "chosen" ones.

As you all know I was and still am in love with my Swedish Hasbeens lace up booties. Well I am diein' for these high heeled jodpur sandals to come in at Kaight! They might be the hottest item of the season. People have been calling up left and right pre-ordering the sandals. They have made their modeling debut in plenty of magazine and SJP is in love with them too!
Coclico's "nymphs" are one of the most beautiful pairs of shoes I have ever seen. The craftsmanship that is put into these shoes in unbelievable. It really amazes me how comfortable they are too.. WOW! also available @ kaight Now!

Hetty Rose is a designer I actually just found. I feel in love right off the bat. From the intricate design and details to the concept. The collection is based on re-using and re working vintage materials in a creative and sustainable way, hand making gorgeous, feminine shoes to fit.

Olsen Haus, pretty much this whole entire spring/summer collection blew me away. Lovin' the color scheme! Olsen Haus is a 100% Vegan line. Read here about all the quality, purpose and love that goes into making these amazing shoes!

And last we have MaraisUSA. I actually just came across these the other day. They have classic designs in plenty of colors to choose from. These eggplant ones are my favorite by far!

So, for all u peeps out there that think that if you "go green" u have to look like a crunchy granola bar.. think again my friend. I just gave u 5 amazing shoes to choose from. Help mother earth and look like the hottest biotch on the block. Sha - BAM!

MotherEarth.

Spring is a springing and I'm a love.. loving. The clean crisp air trickling through my hair, the sun rays beaming against my skin and the flowers in bloom leaving a scent to be remembered in time. It is so beautiful to watch mother nature take it course and all things green grow greener, bright, to where it looks like a painted picture. This month is as you (hopefully) know Earth month. There are plenty of ways to show your appreciation of this incredibly beautiful planet we live in. Every little bit counts. Plant a flower, buy organic products, turn off the lights, ride a bike. Give back and look and feel good by doing so. Here are some photos that are inspired by these four ways of giving back.

And now I will share something so dear to my heart and whole being. It seems to be the perfect ending to this post. A poem by my mother <3

The beams of light so forcefully streaming down,
the rays so magnificently pressing down on my face.
Oh, how it encapsulates throughout my body.
The sun,
The sun,
The almighty sun,
Eternity.

AliceInBooks.

For those of you who don't know, one of my many obsessions is collecting books (memoirs mostly) and DVDs (comedies and Disney). One day (hopefully sooner than later) when Jimmy and I are incredibly rich we are going to build a four wall bookshelf room in our mansion. It has always been a dream of mine. When I told Jim the idea he said he has been dreaming of the same thing since he was little (although his 2 walls will be filled with Vinyl and Cd's). It is going to be a very "busy" room and I can't wait to be in there.

(The dream.. minus the creepo robot/guy)

Anyway, what made me think of this is, today I was on a hunt to buy Alice in Wonderland (Disney classic). I have been wanting it for a while now and finally it is available for purchase. I haven't seen the full movie since I was a little girl. I saw part of it recently when I was puppy sitting Sir Charles the Pug (son of the gorgeous Ms. LJ and highly talented Mr. Maticulous). Charles and I were so tired we past out right after Alice drank the poison and grew and grew and grew!
Anywho, I was in need so I went to Best Buy and they were sold out! What the poop.. SOLD OUT? Not fair, so then I called up Barnes and Noble and they had it but for $10 more. I said whatever and drove to Park Slope. Barnes and Noble is a huge problem for me. I can't go in there and leave with nothing. I have to buy at least 2 books (it's a big problem). Thanks to the "Easter Bunny" I had a gift card and was able to purchase Alice in Wonderland, "Dry" by Augusten Burroughs (author of Running with Scissors, Magical Thinking, and most recently Possible Side Effects) and " Prozac Nation" by Elizabeth Wurtzel. Both books are memoirs and I don't know which one to read first.. so excited! Does anyone have any books that they highly recommend? If so, pleaseee do tell!

I just finished "Bang Bang" by Chelsea Handler and it was HI-LAR! Just as funny as the first two.. "My horizontal life" and "Are you there vodka? It's me Chelsea".

That is my suggestion of the week!

Ciao!

FashionEaster.

Happy Fashion-Easter to all!
When I hear Easter I think of these things:

The Easter bunny and the great outdoors.

The perfect Easter Sunday dress.

Flowers , flowers and more flowers.

And of course, decorating Easter eggs!

Enjoy the day with your friends and family!

Eat well my friends!

KarlLagerfeld.

Last week might have been one of the most awesome weeks of my life. Karl Lagerfeld was shooting right in front of Kaight. He had his ponytail in tack, fingerless leather gloves on tight, and sunglasses down extra dark. It was amazing! Unfortunately I wasn't there on Thursday when he was sitting on our bench and up on the crane giving his muse directions in which was the best way to pose for the ensemble to sore to it's full potential. The garments were fur, not my favorite because I'm animal rights and all. One thing that was extremely ironic was they were shooting a fur campaign in front of a vegan shoe store! Pretty crazy... but it's kinda impossible to hate on the Kaiser if your a fashionista. Enjoy my lovely photo's from my phone.. sorry if they're not perfect. That's why I got the other to show up close and personal of my man!
