MemorialDayFashion

Memorial Day weekend is upon us. For us city slickers that means we are trucking it out to the beaches preferably in the Hamptons.. or pretty much any place there is water and sand. What I love about Memorial Day is spending time with family and friends enjoying the great outdoors. I can't wait to stuff my face with all American treats, i.e. hamburgers, hot dogs, and apple pie with ice cream on it. YUM! Anywho, one must ALWAYS look her best while attending these fab. events. Luckily for you I have found just the thing you need.

Perfectly Imperfect shirred Cami dress - Love this whole look. Perfect for the Beach and then throw on a belt, necklace and awesome gladiators and your set to go to your fabulous BBQ!

Melissa Cute's.. aren't they just darling? Lovin' the red too! It's fun to be festive! Also available in white, black, and pink!

Samantha Pleet's Expedition Dress.. no words for this.. speaks for itself.

Bantu's One Piece Printed Swimsuit. The deep V makes this suit super sexy and I'm totally diggin' this wrap around waist.

Don't forget the most important accessory of all... SUNSCREEN!!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend Everyone!!!

Enjoy!

RideInStyle.

Did you know that May is National Bike Month? Wow, I never knew but I am so glad I know now! Every since Candy (my candy apple red cruiser) has been my baby I have been feeling alot better about myself. I am able to exercise without really feeling like I am.. and let me tell ya that is one awesome feeling! I like to just ride around the hood and see new stores, blocks, people, the flowers and trees in bloom, well I guess the beauty of spring. Of course, being the lil' fashionista that I am, I always have to ride in style. So here are some great fun tips for YOU to ride in style:
photo from painfullyhip.com
Go for a romper.. The coverage is what is all about my friend. Plus when you are done biking you have a super cute outfit on! I just got an amazing Vintage Romper from the Hester Street Fair this weekend.. The girl who was selling it told me that she went on a road trip around the states just in search for the perfect vintage finds. She had some amazing pieces, my romper was found in a thrift shop in Florida and my favorite thing of all.. it has.. SHOULDER PADS! wooo!Popomomo grey romperSamantha Pleet romper

Next we have the unbelievable elegant yet very versatile Mr. Larkin Lizzy shorts. My favorite part has to be the beautiful tulip like pockets. High waisted shorts are my go to right now. Pair these with a cute tee or a dressy tank and you good to go for a day ride or night ride!

Lately I have been switching back and forth between my Yana bag and my new addition Matt & Nat's "Hendrix" bag. Both small and compact, perfect fit in a basket or wear cross body whichever is more comfortable!
Most important its all in the shoes.. As you all know I am obsessed with Swedish Hasbeens and would run a marathon in them if I could! So of course they are going to be my number 1. I would have to say my number 2 would be a tie between Melissa's (any style they are all so darn comfy) and the Worishofer sandal (which I have been on a hunt for, for the past 3 years).

StrangeBeautiful.

Here at Kaight we have opened a new pop-up. We are currently holding some of "Pulp Labs" finest products. We have everything from tee's by french graffiti artist Seb Gorey and Japanese blotting papers by Tatcha (featured in Lucky Mag!). One of my favorite items in the pop up has to be the "Strange Beautiful" nail polish. It is AMAZING!! The designer Jane Schub has a whole lot of inspiration going on behind these beautiful polishes. The inspiration began with the vibrant Red Valentine typewriter designed by Ettore Sottsass. Each and every color that has been made has some hidden meaning behind it. That's something I really enjoy.. a story behind each piece, it makes things more interesting, more unique. “With this carefully edited and richly perverse library of colors I have drawn inspiration ranging from the Ettore Sottsass Red Valentine typewriter to Josef Albers color theory”.

VOLUME 1
"Josef Albers Color Theory, A Mid Century Modern Knoll Fabric, Oscar Wilde, the exuberant paint colors used to decorate the walls of the Federalist period, a color of an Andy Warhol painting at the Dia Museum, the color Puce which I remember mixing when oil painting as a child, a green - winged teal, the dark inky blue of a never ending deep lake at night and the fear of swimming in it, and of course the red Valentine typewriter."

VOLUME 2
"An interesting color palette of camo called Tan and Water Camo used by an elite German anti- terrorist unit. The slate blue color of a uniform in an 1846 N.Currier print “The Death of the Gallant Major Ringgold).Violette (Pansy Violet) ink from the venerable French ink company J. Herbin founded in 1670, the dull red color of a lobster shell immediately after it has been removed from boiling water."

The packaging is another amazing quality to the polishes. Each library comes in a clear hand made box with top that slides off and then you can choose your color. There are 2 different double sets. One is in a handmade cube and the other is held together by a handmade connector piece. StrangeBeautiful is the perfect mix of art, science and beauty. There is 50% more color pigment in the polish to improve the longevity and image. It seriously is amazing and I am in love with mine!

Limited edition colors are available at Kaight. Of course all polishes are non-toxic. "STRANGEBEAUTIFUL™ is a 3 FREE product completely free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, and DBP (dibutyl phthalate) ." Come on and get what u deserve.. to be pampered :)

VerrazanoSuri.

A few weeks ago, it was sucha beautiful Saturday.. one of the first warm days of spring. Jim and I decided to do our Saturday morning ritual. That is go to our fav bodega get a egg sandwich, o.j. and some coffee for me. Drive to the boardwalk and eat our breakfast there while staring into the water. It was so beautiful. This was Suri's first time and man did she enjoy it. First off she enjoyed the scraps from our egg sandwich and then all the love she was getting from EVERY person who walked by, from babies to teenage boys to parents to grandparents. And she sure did strut her stuff. She was in heaven being with her favs (mom and dad of course!) and going on the longest walk of her life. You can see the smile across her face.. I swear it was bigger in person though.

Hope to have every Saturday like this one. ENJOY!!

Happy Weekend!
