Matt&NatRockstars.

I have been awaiting the arrival of the Matt & Nat spring collection for quite some time now. Well to my satisfaction they have arrived and are everything I imagined and more. Studs, zippers, and chains, OH MY! Whether you are feeling like a bad ass rockstar or you want just a little touch of edge.. they have it. We got in tons of different styles from bucket bags to large and small size wallets!

What I love about Matt & Nat -- and there is much to love -- is that this year the company launched it's 21 bottle campaign, further stepping up its commitment to social responsibility and to the environment; all linings are made from recycled plastic water bottles! A message inside of each bag will let you know exactly how many bottles were recycled to produce your accessory. The Montreal based company used all antique chains as straps for these non - leather accessories. How cool is that?! Oh, and don't feel left out guys.. we got in some wallets for you too!!

I know.. I know.. I just made your day.. didn't I? ;)

Diary.2.26.10

If I had a diary this is what I would write in it today:

Stupid snowstorm! My gosh it was soo horrible out there today! I will tell ya a little story.. here it goes.... So last night I was supposed to drive to Long Island so I could spend some time with the family and on Saturday I have a ever so special "Bridal party Tea party" with the blushing bride Jessica and the other bridesmaids. I have been looking forward to this day for months now and of course the snowstorm had made a huge impact on my travels. I decided last night wasn't the best night to drive so I would wait till the morning to drive out. Well, for some reason on Fridays I can sleep till around 1:30 and that is what I did (I thoroughly enjoy my sleep, it does a body good). So when I woke up I was like Yessss its not snowing, I can have some coffee, make some breakfast, and maybe watch an episode of the O.C. or two. After that I was like ok, I'm good to go.. got all Suri's stuff together, my stuff and walked out to get the car which was parked around the block. Well stupid me forgot that my car was on a main road and plowed in. CRAP! I walked back to the apt. and can hear Suri barking from a few houses down (she gets really pissed at me when I leave to get the car but little does her peanut brain know is that I am getting it ready so WE can go to her Grandma's..whom she loves ever so much!) Got the shovel, started shoveling myself out, really good progress within a 20 min span and then of course, one plow, two plow, WTF three plows!! I am stuck again! Shovel, shovel, shovel yet again. Finally I get myself out and get to the apt, get the car loaded and pick up Suri. I heard some great songs, sang a little, and Suri slept the whole time. We were just about to get off the exit when things started to get really bad. Snow pouring down, roads covered in white. I seriously was scared. I turned down the music and prayed to my parents asking them to protect me and my baby. This probably went on for about a mile or two and then what is this? The road ways are clear.. Wow you guys work fast I said. From my own personal experiences talking to loved ones from the past is like praying. I choose to believe in them and it always works out in the end. So, I finally made it home and was greeted by warm hugs and kisses from my mother and father - in - law - to - be.. although I feel like they are the mother and father my parents replaced themselves with to take care of me. I told them about the stressful drive and I then was handed a glass of wine.. something my mom would have done. It's crazy how the world works and the little things mean so much. All in all I am very thankful.

Love you Mommy and Daddy!
xoxo

JADETribe.

I have this very odd obsession with planners and wristlets. I think I might own about 10 of each. Every time I see one that I like.. I buy on instinct. It's my own little weird addiction. Crazy right? Well of course Kaight has fed my addiction once again. Last night Kate came into the store with a bag full of goodies from showroom appointments and the trade shows. I looked inside the bag full of goodies and BAM it hit me..I was love struck. New JADEtribe wristlets and tote bag. I would def have all sorts of use for these wristlets.. like as a wallet, makeup case, clutch, etc. The patterns that make up these beautiful pieces are undeniably beautiful. I have been diggin' the whole gypsy vibe lately and I'm so hop-ing on that band wagon. So each piece is handmade, naturally dyed, recycled, sustainable and eco friendly. They have assorted beads, antiqued brass charm, and antiqued brass jingle bells at leather tassel zipper pull. They are a personal form of Art and Expression for our New World. Each one is unique in its own special way and a one of a kind!

Which is your favorite color?

Here is a little info on the behind the scenes of what goes into creating these ethical beauties.

JADE's story: she works with women from the Ban Nayang Village in Laos, South East Asia. They grow the cotton there, hand-pick it and turn it into thread.

They use leaves from the Indigo plants to create the Indigo dye and they use Bark from the trees in their village to create the Red and Beige colors.

Everything is done right here in this small community! The women rely on weaving as their main source of income, while the men in the village work in the vegetable and rice fields to provide food for the village. It's just an amazing story and the bags are absolutely stunning. You can feel the love, care and craftsmanship in each bag.

I personally feel that the combination of hard work and dedication is what really makes these bags unique. Learning about what it took to make this one product is indescribable. Hopefully others will love them as much as I do and we can help the women of Laos provide for their themselves and their families!!

MelissaUnderground.

New arrivals have been flying in these past couple of weeks. I have been loving every minute of it! It always is a big treat to see our good friend Mark (our UPS delivery man) with a full hand cart. Yesterday he came in bright and early and said "I hope you ate your Wheaties this morning!" I was like what is he talking about.. until I looked at the cart.. at least 5 HUGE boxes. He placed them in the store and walked back out to the truck to load up another. More boxes I exclaimed, He then said " you will be a busy little bee today - have fun!" and boy was he right! I always love being the first one to open up the boxes filled with new inventory. It makes me feel special in a way, like I am the first to see this product and I get to try it on ya know.. to see if the fit is right ;)

So yesterday was a Melissa + Vivienne Westwood collection and Prairie Underground. Totally in awe by both. The new Melissa + Vivienne collection is kinda out of this world (in a good way). The flats are accessorised with a little plastic bow or the Vivienne Westwood stamp. Color combo's to die for and style is adorable. LOVES IT! All Melissa's shown $130..

The Prairie Underground shipment was a mix of beautiful spring like colors. It really made me feel like spring is almost here.. well almost.. minus the snow we are supposed to get on Thursday.. wah =( Either or you can def rock the hoodies from now till well.. whenever. We also got cute yet edgy tunics and comfy yet chic dresses. Pretty much if your "style" falls in between those lines.. your good to go!

Which is your favorite color?

And.. I think I'm coming down with Spring Fever.. can't wait for more shipments to come and cure me!

AWhimsicalEdge.

Now that the ever so chaotic fashion week has come to a close it's time to get back to my semi ever so chaotic life. As my research has shown this The Green Shows at NYFW (New York Fashion Week) was a good one. There was the good, the bad, and of course, the ugly. I must say the two that I was incredibly impressed by were... Thieves by Sonja den Elzen.. and.. Samantha Pleet. I wasn't able to view the actual shows but through pictures and lookbooks I was blown away. They showcased capes, rompers, over sized hoods, and two - tone fabrics..(which I adore). The reason I was drawn to these two designers is because Samantha shows my girlie/playful side while Sonja shows my edgy yet chic side. By combining a piece from each collection my lord will I feel complete and super awes. too.. (if I do say so myself ;)

Here's a peek at some of my favorite pieces.

So whimsical! I love it!
I want this dress so bad!
When I own you I will play dress up and
pretend I am Alice in Wonderland!

Top 3 Samantha Pleet.

So hard, yet undeniably elegant.

SweetMelissa.

Sweet Melissa, you make me wanna crumple.I love your plastic barbie sweet strawberry perfume. I get weak in the knees when I pass you by. You make my heart sink to my gut when I see someone looking at you or talking to you. I want to spend every day with you and with the help of some designers oh my lord, it IS possible! <- Just a little diddy I like to call Shoe Fetish.

So I have been blessed in being able to preview the Melissa F/W 2010 collection. My oh My.. I can't even contain the drool that is pouring out the side of my mouth if I wanted to.. Thank god I am at the desk alone right now lol. Anywho, Melissa has added on some other fabulously amazingly talented designers to her collabo list. Jean Paul Gaultier anyone.. and what about my homegirl.. give it up everyone for... BARBIE!!! Amazing.. and if you haven't tried them on or even seen them in person, Ill give ya something to ponder. So they are made in Brazil.. (I really feel like any shoes made in Brazil are so well made). All the shoes are made out of recycled plastic and whats even cooler than that is that you can throw em in the recycle bin when you've worn them to the sole. She has also collab's with my girl Vivienne Westwood, Campana Brothers, Alexandre Herchcovitch, J Maskrey, and plenty more. I'm personally waiting for the Melissa/ John Galliano combo.. my heart will fall out of my body if this was to happen. Here's a sneak peak ...
Melissa Troupe + Alexandre Herchcovitch

Melissa Ultragirl + Barbie

How unbelievable.. are your wildest dreams coming true just like mine?!

Happy Tuesday!

Corky Clutch!

I know there was just a huge snow storm but I am so ready for it to be Spring/Summer. There are so many new items coming in here at Kaight, and its a little crazy that I am falling head over heels in love with each one. The most recent purchase was this unbelievably amazing cork bag! Who thought cork would be good for anything besides keeping wine in a bottle and something to hold a thumb tack on? I am always amazed by the eco industry. Most eco designers find the most common materials and use them in ways I could not even imagine. Maybe that's why their the designers =) The trim of this clutch is made up of a wax burlap with a metallic finish. All products are made in the fabulous NYC! A big thank you to Jess Rizzutti who is the talented and creative designer of this fashionable cork bag, thank you for bringing something new and fun to the table! So be sure to keep an eye out for this clutch because I am 100% sure it will fly off the shelves! Amazing stuff here folks.. Goodness gracious I love eco-fashion!

Have a wonderful Thursday night!

Ciao,
Michele

I'mSprung.

Spring has sprung.. well, for fashion for that matter.. Kaight just posted a new post telling all about this lovely ensemble that I am sporting. The new Loomstate Margarita dress, layered under that the Julie Vogel (the Park in ParkVogel) roll neck long sleeve tee and cinched at the waist with a Brave leather belt. We just got in these hott items and we're so in love we had to figure out a way for them to be worn in this freezing cold weather we got going on here! So thats how we decided they are both "BURRFECT" for layering! Paired with my Maggie's tights and lace up Swedish Hasbeens you just cant go wrong but, also pair it with a Brooklyinsta necklace (vintage chain and chain links) your..well.. READY FOR ANYTHING!!

Enjoy little Leo's tushie in the first pic of ensemb (short for ensemble).. hence why I am laughing.. Cute lil baby bomb!

Happy Monday All!!

WAKKKEee UP!

Some of my new favorite dresses have arrived! Of course, they are Dream and Awake! So I wasn't able to choose one favorite or even 2 favorites for that matter.. so I made it my four equally favorite dresses currently in stock at Kaight!

What I love about this one is that I would wear it both ways. The buttons are supposed to be the back of the dress but I have a feeling I would sooo wear the buttons in the front, just to switch it up from time to time. The pockets and pattern gives it that great summer bbq dress. unfortunately summer is so far away, wahh. So, I would pair it with brown tights, a cardi or blazer, and high boots to wear now.

I love the Tropicana feel of this one. I kinda wanna go away to a beautiful island and sit on the beach and sip pina colada's in this dress.. ahhh if only this was happening right now =( but for now I will pair with black leggings that wrap around the heel of the foot and an awesome pair of heels!

We call this one the "Tigger" dress. Loves it! Really feel as if this dress can be worn in any season. The coloring is amazing and would look awesome with some tights, riding boots, or sandals.

Almost all of the dresses come with a vintage belt. It just so happened that 3 of my fav's include handmade belts by the designer. I believe she either crochets or braids some scrap fabrics laying around the studio to create these awesome belts, which is and AMAZING idea! Am I right?
Here is another that I would pretty much do anything for. Again multi seasonal for my choice of style. I paired it with the Prairie Underground hoodie to give it that super casual/cute/friendly vibe. Also this lovely lady.. (well call her "Sunny".. I really love that name and that's what this ensemble is making me feel at the moment) is wearing a LuLu Frost plaza number necklace and the AK Vintage fringe necklace.

I will concluded this post with the Andean Collection bracelets because I feel like anyone of these could be paired with ANY one of those dresses. All bracelets are handmade in Ecuador from the Tagua nut. The tagua nut is a sustainable product collected after it grows into large pods emerging from the palm's trunk. No trees are cut down in this process, as the tagua pod is regenerative. Tagua is then hand dyed a wide spectrum, of colors and carefully crafted into unique jewelry, such as these beautiful bracelets!

** All the dresses are one-of-a-kind and do NOT come with sizes. The designer wants you to try it on and "if it fits, it's meant to be yours" which I find pretty cool! All dresses are $150 and bracelets are $25..

Which is your favorite?!
