Brooklynista's Winter Guide:

The winter edition Vol. 1.

There has been so much snow here in NYC that it is kinda impossible to go outside looking cute. With big clunky snow boots, a humongous jacket, hat, scarf, gloves, stockings under your pants, 3 layers of tops, and 2 pairs of socks, you begin to feel like a walking marshmallow. With that being said I am loving the sound of staying in, if I don't have to go out. What I have been doing to keep occupied are these 3 things.. reading, finding new music, watching more movies (every trainers worst nightmare lol). I was never a real movies fanatic but now I'm starting to get into them. Watched some that I have been wanting to see for sometime now just never got to the theatre. Also, I only like certain movies.. which is also why we don't go to the theatre that often. I'm strictly a hilarious comedy or romantic-comedy type o' gal. I know cliche', but when I watch anything out of these genre's I become devastated. That's not a good look.

The movies that fit into these categories were:

"Easy A" - super cute and I began to fall in love with Emma Stone... hard.

"Twilight's Eclipse" - Hated it! I read all the books and everyone said that eclipse was the best movie by far. I understand that from a special effects kinda view but story wise.. Edward creeps me the Fbomb out.. as you can obv. tell I'm Team Jacob!

"Toy Story 3" - Recommended by MANY.. and I LOVED it! Adorable! Big Baby I love you!

"Grown Ups" - It was funny and cute. pretty much what I wanted and was looking for. It satisfied my needs. Wasn't hilarious as I thought though. That was an all-star cast but.. they can still do no wrong in my eyes.

Music heals the soul:

SoulKhan Feat. Sene with remixes Audible Doctor - Shot Glass Magnified - Love every second of it. Beat, vocals, and lyrics. Killer.

Talib Kweli - He just put out a new album it's dope but not dope enough to buy the whole album.. I just got a few tracks.

I Fight Dragons - I was actually put onto them by seeing them in my news feed on Facebook non the less. And I have been listening to this song non-stop. "The Power of Love".

Metric - Gold Guns Girls - to be exact. Love it, need it, you should buy it.

New Young Pony Club - Love it all. Got the whole album and listen to it all the time.

As Of this winter the books I read were:

"You better not cry" by Augusteen Burroughs - Hilarious Christmas Read.

"Tweaked" by Patrick Moore - Another one of my debbie downers dealing with drugs, and abusive situations. Butttt their is always something good that comes out of it. (I wont say anymore!)

Reading now - "Dandelions: Memoirs of a Free Spirit" by Catherine James - A memoir of a groupie pretty much... Love it.

On my to-read list you ask..? Oh yes, there is:

"Blow by Blow The story of Isabella Blow" by Detmar Blow with Tom Sykes

"The Thieves of Manhattan" by Adam Langer

"Just Kids" by Patti Smith

For now that is my winter review from our apt in BK. Hopefully soon the snow will stop falling, so Suri and I can go for a walk with out her jumping through the snow like a bunny. That seriously happened and it was so cute but so sad at the same time.. it was like she was jumping so high yet she was still to small to get anywhere. Then her legs had snow stuck to them like little ice blocks. Once I noticed, I picked her up and ran her home to defrost my Petunia.. so sad :(

However, We were able to make it out last night to meet up with some of our fav. people at a Casmik Event. ALways a good time ;)

If you have any suggestions please feel free to comment ;)

Peace and Suri,

Golden Globes Top 4

I always love when award season comes around. The fashion is unbelievable with the good and the bad. Some people trying way to hard and some who didn't even try and look phenomenal. I also love to watch all the stars get wasted and say profound things in front of their peers. It kinda makes them a little bit more real in my eyes. I know I am a few days late with this but eh.. who gives a hoot. Here are my Top 4 favorites, 2 female 2 male. Might I add that the men really brought it this year. Kudos.

First off we have the glorious Anne Hathaway. Shining and Sparkling in a
Giorgio Armani Privé evening gown. The finale look from the Fall Winter 2010-2011 couture collection is fully embellished with paillettes and Swarovski crystals.

Second best was the stunning newly blonde Emma Stone. Emma sported the gorgeous simple but so f-in elegant look. Wearing a Calvin Klein collection peach dress and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.

And here we are with Johnny. The man who can do no wrong in my eyes. God why is he so damn good looking? Johnny's sporting the whole grunge yet I still took a shower look. Sexy. Johnny is wearing a Ralph Lauren Black Label tuxedo, a white Anto shirt with self bib, and Martin Katz studs and cufflinks. He finished off his look with a vintage pocket watch by Gray. And the motorcycle boots make it one complete ball of hottness.

Lastly we have the golden boy himself. Kevin Mchale. As u all know I am a huge Gleek and I cry at almost every episode. Well when I saw Kevin I was first weirded out bc he wasn't in a wheelchair and 2nd bc I though he looked in Julie Bowen's words "Fuckin' Fly". Damn boy, go on wit ya bad self! Kevin's in a Dolce and Gabbana polka dot jacket. FLY.

Who were your top 4?

Lady Gaga - Mugler

In the midst of my daily twitter feed I stumbled upon the Mother Monster. Miss Lady Gaga herself. She has a new remix (which she mixed herself) and a rather creepy short. I am weirdly enough really feeling these creep-tastic videos that some of my favorite artists are putting out. (Hence, Kanye's "Monster" video) This video is quite different though. It all started with the house of Mugler. House of Mugler is newly under the creative direction of Nicola Formichetti, Gaga's costume cohort and personal stylist. As per her "meat dress" debut to the world on the night of the VMA's 2010, we obviously knew that Formchetti was gonna be a crazy one. With her style being extremely out there it only fits right that this short would be too. The short includes clips from Formchetti's first ever menswear runway show. Hat's off to you Nicola, the collection is cohesive, divine and wild all in one.

If I were one to "beat up the beat" I would have murdered it. This track is killable.

Valentines Day Vintage.

As you all know by we have started the "Vintage Shop within a Shop" here at Kaight on Orchard Street. With all the vintage goodies trickling in it is hard not to buy every single item. I have been known as a vintage junkie for quite sometime now. This pop might make me the Queen of Vintage. With Vintage designs from Oscar De La Renta to Etienne Aigner. Pieces from every decade, with lots of pieces from my personal favorite.. the 70's. Perfect timing for the new spring trend. Check out some of my favorite pieces.

Now that Valentines Day is on it's way , it's time to become that beautiful Lady in Red. Spice up your wardrobe with some of my favorite vintage finds in red.

These are a must. I am feeling a lil Footloose right here. Also, red cowboy boots and nothing else on Valentines Day night is always a fun time ;)

For the office.. paired with a pencil skirt and heels and your good to go.

Wear it as a sweater or as a jacket either or your gonna be one toasty lady!

This one just scream sex kitten! Me-owww!

The flirty one of the bunch. Pair with jeans or leggings and tall boots, head to the bar and snatch up that man!

All pieces are one of's. Sizing varies. Find your perfect Valentine's day outfit at Kaight's "Vintage Shop within a Shop" only in our Manhattan location (83 Orchard St. b/t Grand and Broome). And here are some great eco tips just in time for the big night or day.. whatever floats your boat.
